About Region 4

 Region 4 is a thriving region of Sweet Adelines International devoted to teaching and performing a cappella barbershop style harmony.  We are comprised of 21 choruses and almost 50 quartets in parts of four states:  Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia.  We welcome singers to come join us and invite you to browse our website.  Please contact us if you need help finding a chorus near you or if you'd like more information!

 

 

Our members love to perform for our communities -- our families and friends!   Choruses and quartets can be found entertaining at various community events, organizations and their own chorus shows.  Rehearsals are spent learning as singers and learning the craft of a cappella barbershop harmony.  We have great fun together as singers and performers and life-long friendships are made in our choruses, between choruses in our region, and throughout our worldwide organization!   At right, Fermata Nowhere, Region 4 2009 Most Improved Quartet enjoying a relaxing time at the competition afterglow.

CompetitionIn the spring of every year, Region 4 holds a chorus and quartet competition in Covington, KY.  Competitions are a special time for quartets and choruses from our region to come together for the purpose of singing for each other, and getting constructive feedback from a panel of International judges and especially to see old friends.  The winners of the regional competition in both quartet and chorus categories get to travel to International Competition, which is held in the fall in a selected city each year.  In 2009, International Competition will be held in Nashville.
Winners in Division A Small Choruses and Division AA Mid-size choruses are invited to participate in the Harmony Classic if their scores are among the top five highest in their division.  The Harmony Classic is held during the International Competition and Convention.

 

Quartets

Most choruses have a number of members who form their own quartets in addition to singing with the chorus. Our Region currently is home to a number of wonderful quartets, and we are very proud of them! Click here to see our quartet section to learn more about them.
